MIUI Pure mode: extra security for your Xiaomi smartphone

The latest version of MIUI is 12.5, although there is a later version 12.5 Enhanced Edition, which is already reaching international units.

MIUI 13 is under development, scheduled for release in late June, and Xiaomi has set up a special team with the specific task of collecting and addressing feedback from MIUI users.

One of the best ways to stay on top of future MIUI functionality is through beta channels and, in particular, features that reach beta testing.

One of these news called Pure MIUI mode.

The feature is intended to resolve security issues associated with malicious Android apps.

According to Xiaomi’s own numbers, about 40% of applications that are installed with the default MIUI installer have not passed the company’s own security audit and about 10% have been recognized at some point as a security risk by such audits.

Pure Mode plans to solve this disabling the side loading of APKs by default and also the installation of apps in the background, without the user’s consent and knowledge.

Xiaomi emphasizes that it is about a setting that any user can disable at will. to reactivate side loading if desired.

There is no information on what Xiaomi plans to do with Pure Mode at the moment.

We don’t know if we will see it as part of the next MIUI 13 or if it will be available outside of China, as in markets where the Google Play Store is available, this is the main source of apps for most users. that malicious application installations are less of a problem.
