A new film from director Vivek Agnihotri, ‘The Bengal Files,’ is already stirring up a big storm. The movie hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but it’s facing strong opposition. Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, who stars in the film, recently spoke out. He thinks all this trouble was planned long ago.
The drama really heated up during the film’s trailer launch in Kolkata. There was a lot of uproar at the event. Mithun Chakraborty shared his thoughts with ANI. He wondered why people were protesting the film without even seeing it. He questioned why they were reacting before watching the trailer or anything else. The actor believes this whole situation is a well-thought-out plan.
Beyond the protests, some political figures have filed official complaints, known as FIRs, against the film’s creators. Mithun Chakraborty had a strong reaction to this too. He joked that in Bengal, FIRs are handed out easily, “like puffed rice.” He mentioned that if someone from the TMC party goes to the police station, an FIR just happens. He added that if an FIR has been filed, director Vivek Agnihotri will certainly challenge it, so it’s not a big deal.
Mithun Chakraborty also took aim at those opposing the film. He believes people are simply scared of the truth. He explained that ‘The Bengal Files’ talks about events from 1947, even before he was born. He stressed that the next generation needs to learn about historical moments. He specifically mentioned what happened in Noakhali and the major massacres in Kolkata. He asked a pointed question: “Why wouldn’t you want to know the truth?”
For those eager to see what all the fuss is about, ‘The Bengal Files’ is set to release on September 5. Besides Mithun Chakraborty, the film also features talented actors Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar in important roles.
