Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has made a big statement about the IPL. In fact, Starc has always given more importance to international cricket than to the franchise league. However, he will now play in the Indian franchise league after a gap of around eight years. However, Starc has no regrets about staying away from the IPL for so many years. He also mentioned the reason for it.
Veteran Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has admitted that he has turned down lucrative IPL offers in the past to prioritize international cricket, which has helped him improve his game. In last week’s auction, two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders picked up Mitchell Starc for Rs 24 crore. Now it is the first time since 2015 that Starc is part of IPL.
Mitchell Starc said the break during the IPL helped him freshen up and stay fit for international matches. AAP quoted Starc as saying: “It is difficult enough to organize one cricket schedule, let alone two at once. So I always spent time outside of cricket with my wife Alyssa or my family. I spent time together. I have kept my body fresh to stay fit and ready for Australian cricket.
He continued: “I have no regrets. I think it definitely helped my Test cricket. The money is always good, and it certainly was this year, but I have always prioritized international cricket. And I think it helped my game.”
Starc was last with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. So far he has only played for this team in the IPL. Bangalore had signed Starc in 2014 and so far he has taken 34 wickets in 27 matches at an economy rate of 7.17 and his best performance is four wickets for 15 runs.
