Missing people, UFOs and other unsolved mysteries: This is Hoia, the most terrible and dangerous forest in the world

The nooks and crannies of the world are home to some of the strangest and strangest places worthy of a science fiction film or book. This is the case of the Hoia Forest in Romania, which is under consideration one of the most terrifying and spooky places on the entire planet. Paranormal phenomena or unexplained events are said to have occurred among its trees, plants and land. People have disappeared or died upon entering, and there have even been several UFO sightings.

The Hoia Forest is located near Cluj-Napoca, a city in the Transylvania region of Romania. The forest is home to around 295 hectares full of trees with strange and unusual shapes that are quite different from other forests.

In itself, the name of the forest is due to a strange disappearance: A shepherd was leading his two hundred sheep when he entered this mysterious forest. He disappeared without a trace and was never heard from again, but neither was the herd. There weren’t even any footprints to help with the search, and to this day the mystery remains unsolved. For this reason it is also called the “Bermuda Triangle” of Romania.

This forest collects a large number of unexplained events. In the late 1960s, a biologist named Alexandru Sift photographed a disk-shaped object flying over the site and, according to this theory, it was a UFO. It wasn’t the only sighting, as in 1968 a military officer also took photos of a flying object that resembled flying saucers, and other unexplained lights and sightings were reported in the 1970s.

Likewise, there is an area in the forest that has never grown, although research and studies have been carried out showing that there is nothing there to prevent plants from emerging.

For the Romanian state The ongoing paranormal activity posed a threat and resulted in part of the forest burning down. And many people who entered the forest said they suffered sudden rashes, nausea and a feeling of lightheadedness. Others also reported that they felt like they were being watched.

In 2012, Travel & Leisure magazine included the forest on its list of “most haunted places in the world.” A lot of research has been carried out in recent years, and in addition, many curious people come in and take field trips to learn about the history.
