Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry caused concern after a stage fall led to her removal by stretcher during the Miss Universe pageant.
Images circulating on social media showed Henry, 28, falling from the stage during the preliminary evening gown round on Wednesday, November 19. Henry was seen walking the stage in an orange gown before her fall and subsequent removal on a stretcher.
The Miss Universe Jamaica organization later confirmed that Henry “suffered a fall from the main stage during the evening gown round.” This occurred ahead of the Miss Universe 2025 final this weekend in Thailand.
A statement on Instagram reported Henry was “rushed to Paolo Rangsit hospital.” Medical professionals there have confirmed she does not have life-threatening injuries. Tests are continuing to ensure her full recovery.
The organization asked fans to “keep her in their prayers and send positive thoughts.” They also expressed gratitude for the significant outpouring of support.
Before the incident, Henry participated in the national costume and swimsuit sections of the pageant. Miss Universe Organization President Raúl Rocha provided an update after visiting her in the hospital.
Rocha confirmed via Instagram that Henry “has no broken bones and is receiving good care.” He visited her with her family on Wednesday.
The 74th Miss Universe pageant, which began earlier this month, has faced other controversies. These include a dispute between Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and Thai businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil during a sash ceremony.
Amid the controversies, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) issued a statement. It reaffirmed its commitment to the respect and safety of all participants.
The MUO also stated its dedication to working with the host community, Miss Grand International (MGI), and local partners. This collaboration aims to ensure the success of the 74th edition of the pageant. A high-level delegation, led by MUO CEO Mario Búcaro, is traveling to Thailand to strengthen these partnerships.
The organization added that all scheduled events will proceed as planned. This reflects their goal to deliver a global celebration embodying diversity, empowerment, and inclusion.
Miss Universe judge Omar Harfouch later withdrew from the pageant. He cited a lack of transparency in the voting process.
The Miss Universe 2025 final is scheduled for Friday, November 21. Reigning queen Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark will crown the next winner.
