Miranda Kerr on Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry Split: Happy Blended Family Co-Parenting

Miranda Kerr, the fashion icon and KORA Organics founder, recently shared some heartwarming thoughts about her ex-husband, Orlando Bloom, and his recent split from pop superstar Katy Perry. Far from any Hollywood drama, Kerr made it clear that their blended family is thriving. “We are one big happy family,” the 42-year-old model declared during her appearance on KIIS FM’s “Kyle & Jackie O Show” on Wednesday, September 3. “Katy is incredible, I adore her. And Orlando, of course.”

Reports first emerged in June, via entertainment outlet Us Weekly, that Bloom, 48, and Perry, 40, had called off their engagement. They had been together for about a decade before making this decision. Despite the breakup, the ex-couple is amicably co-parenting their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. Kerr even mentioned seeing both Bloom and Perry just last weekend. “We were celebrating Daisy’s birthday,” she explained on Wednesday, highlighting their ongoing connection.

Kerr shares a 14-year-old son, Flynn, with Bloom. The pair tied the knot in 2010 after dating for three years, but they went their separate ways in 2013. Today, Kerr is happily married to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel. They wed in 2017 and have three sons together: Hart, who is 7, Myles, 6, and their youngest, Pierre, just 1 year old.

This isn’t the first time Kerr has opened up about her friendly post-divorce relationship with Bloom. In a 2023 interview with Access Hollywood, she shared, “We enjoy each other’s company. It’s great.” Kerr explained the secret to their success lies in prioritizing their son. “When Orlando and I separated, we simply said, ‘Look, in the end, the most important thing is that Flynn’s needs come first, not ours.’ So, whatever we do, is this best for Flynn? And that’s how we’ve managed it.”

Kerr’s admiration for Katy Perry is no secret either. Two years ago, on the “Something To Talk About” podcast, Kerr spoke glowingly of Perry. “I literally say every day how grateful I am for Katy,” she revealed. “I feel so lucky to have that relationship with her. She really is like a sister to me, and we connected from day one.”

Perry echoed these sentiments in a 2023 interview with Vogue. She described their unique setup as “a blended family, a modern family.” Perry added, “We want to help destroy that old narrative that ex-wives and new wives don’t get along. That’s not true. We are strong, powerful women, we need each other, and we really are there for each other.”

Bloom and the “Fireworks” singer first started dating in 2016 and got engaged in 2019. Their representatives have been clear there’s no drama involved in their separation. A statement shared with Us in July clarified their situation. “Orlando and Katy have been evolving their relationship in recent months to focus on co-parenting,” the statement read. “They will continue to be seen together as family, as their common priority is, and always will be, raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
