Ministry of Economy reports the approval of 410 public investment projects for more than RD$239,838 million

The Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (Mepyd) reported that in October 2022, 11 public investment projects were approved for a cumulative total of 410 projects between January and October, equivalent to a growth of 85.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The information contained in the NIPDATA reportprepared by the General Directorate of Public Investment, highlights that the total cost of the projects approved in October was RD$1,566.2 million, for a total of RD$239,838.3 million for the year, the highest in the last five years.

According to the publication, 64.6% of the projects approved between January and October correspond to Central government (265 projects)followed by 18% from the Municipal governments (74 projects) and 15.1% of the Companies (62 projects). 

Similarly, the highest cost is for central government projects amounting to RD$220,325.2 million (91.9% of the total approved in January – October).

Indicates that 36.4% of the projects approved in October correspond to the Housing sector and community services (4 projects), in particular Community Development (3 projects).

It maintains that the analysis by cost of the projects shows that the highest amount approved corresponds to Protection of air, water and soil with RD$1,041.8 million (66.5% of the total amount approved in October). The amount approved for AAyS Protection will be used for the management of wastewater, drainage and sewage.

According to the report, for the January-October period, 33.5% of the approved projects correspond to Housing and community services (138 projects), then 24.1% to Health (99 projects) and 12.4% to Transportation (51 projects). Regarding the total cost of the projects, 44.8% will be allocated to Transportation and 34% to Health.
