Minister of Tourism presents RD to more than 200 Spanish travel agencies at Fitur 2023

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado began his agenda of activities in the International fair of tourism (Fitur 2023), which is held in the capital of Spain, Madrid, holding a meeting with more than 200 travel agencies and tour operators of Europe, airlines and European media.

During the event, the official highlighted that the Dominican Republic closed 2022 as one of the world’s leading countries in terms of tourism recoverycompared to the year 2019.

Likewise, he presented to those present the record results that the country had at the end of December 2022, the first year in which, according to what he said, the nation exceeds 7 million tourists and 8 million visitors.

“Europe is one of the most important markets for our country, since last year we received more than 1.4 million tourists from the area. With activities like this, what we seek is strengthen cooperation and alliances with each of the travel agencies and tour operators in the regionso that we continue to grow hand in hand and that in this 2023 we also reach figures never seen before,” said Collado.

The Vice Minister of Tourism, Jaqueline Mora, also participated in the presentation, who addressed the challenges and opportunities facing this 2023, highlighting the trends and projects that are being developed in the Dominican Republic to address these challenges.

While Collado reiterated that every time the country improves its performance in terms of tourism translates into more jobs and opportunities for families in the Dominican Republic.

“With each flight or each room that you sell from the Dominican Republic, you are helping a family, which is why it is so important for us to work hand in hand with all of you; large, medium and small agencies, which are strategic partners, allow us to place our country within the favorite destinations of Europeans and the world”, the minister pointed out.
