The Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel de Camps, announced this Monday that more than 90,000 pensioners will receive a “significant increase” in their pensions.

“This historic increase, which in some cases doubles the amount earned by retired workers, is another achievement of an ambitious plan to improve the living conditions of Dominican workers,” De Camps said.

This was established through the issuance of nine decrees that correspond to those listed between 820-21 and 838-21, with which the President of the Republic ordered in the last days of 2021 the leveling of pensions for the more than 90,000 citizens.

Likewise, the Executive Power Consultant, Antoliano Peralta, assured that a decree will be signing that grants pensions to 4,133 to affiliates of the Dominican Institute of Social Security (IDSS) with between 300 and 400 contributions, in addition to offering other significant improvements.

The information was offered during a press conference led by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, in the Las Cariátides room of the National Palace.

"I want to announce that I am providing the pension with the sum of RD $ 10,000.00 per month, of 4,133 former workers who contributed to the disappeared Dominican Institute of Social Security (IDSS), and that for multiple reasons they could not accumulate the 400 contributions provided by Law 1896-48 , to be entitled to a pension", said the head of state during the activity.

Abinader also explained that the execution of the payment of these pensions will have an impact on the annual national budget of more than 537 million pesos.

Present during the announcement were the president of the National Council of the Trade Union Unit, Rafael “Pepe” Abreu; the general director of Budget, José Rijo Presbot, among others.
