Minister of Culture will represent the country at the UNESCO General Conference

The Minister of Culture, Milagros Germán, will represent the Dominican Republic, together with a delegation, at the 41st General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to be held from November 9-24 in Paris.

Germán, who travels this Saturday night from Las Américas International Airport, will exhaust a wide work schedule within the framework of this important event, in which delegations from the 193 UNESCO member states will participate.

The General Conference, the highest organ of UNESCO, meets every two years with the aim of determining the policies, programs and budget of the organization.

In their participation, the local delegation will learn about aspects related to the plans, projects and financing that this organization has for our country, in order to achieve better opportunities and that the aid is related to the needs of the Dominican nation.

Minister Milagros Germán will deliver a speech on Wednesday, the 10th, in the afternoon, in which she will present to UNESCO the achievements of the Dominican Republic in the cultural sphere, as well as future plans.

Also, among the scheduled activities, on the 9th the minister will attend the opening of the exhibition “Vivas”, as part of the celebration of the International Day of Non-Violence against Women, an act in which she will address some opening remarks.

Upon arrival in France, the minister will also participate in a working meeting at the Offices of the Permanent Delegation of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

The delegation that will accompany the minister is made up of Jesús Paniagua, secretary general of the Dominican Commission for UNESCO; Andrés L. Mateo, permanent delegate to UNESCO as ambassador; Andrés Merejo, director of Promotion and Diffusion of Science and Technology, representative of the MESCYT and member of the Commissions of Ecolocation and Natural Sciences as delegate, and Rafael Emilio Bello Díaz, Vice Minister of Supervision, Evaluation and Quality Control of the Ministry of Education, as alternate delegate.
