“Mini Pacman” Rosa affirms that he will retain his world title “by any means”

The undefeated Dominican boxer Erick "pac-man" Rosa assured this Monday that he will put his full potential into play next July 15 when he makes his first defense of the World Boxing Association (WBA) minimum weight world title against Panamanian Carlos "the anarita" Ortega in the Dominican capital.

The billboard has the support of the Ministry of Sports and its assembly is in charge of the company Shuan Boxing Promotions in association with the promoter Probellum, based in Dubai.

The billboard will be held in the Fencing Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

Rosa, 22, pleaded "prepared" to win the fight for "any way"when participating in a press conference held in the James Rodríguez room of the Miderec.

“I am in excellent physical shape and super good at a technical level, training hard and with absolute concentration to face the challenge of defending and retaining the crown in my country."said the fighter.

The Dominican champion, undefeated in five fights as a professional, said he thanked his promoter, his manager Belgium Peña, the trainer Vicente de la Cruz, as well as the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, "for the support he has given me and the boost he gives to boxing in general.

The native of Villa Duarte maintained that he is watching his rival’s fights, “to find out the combat train that we are going to launch against Ortega.” La Arañita Ortega has a record of 15-6 and has defeated six by way of dream.

Mini Pacman Rosa will exhaust the main turn on the card where former light heavyweight world champion Félix "Mangu" Valera and Cuban Ernesbadi Begné will enter the ring against boxers from Venezuela and Panama, respectively.

The meeting was chaired by the Vice Ministers of Sports, Franklin De la Mota and Elvys Duarte, as well as by promoter Belgium Peña, president of Shuan Boxing Promotions.

De la Mota spoke on behalf of Minister Camacho, who was confident that Rosa will keep her universal belt.

He argued that the Ministry of Sports and its minister, Francisco Camacho, will fulfill Rosa’s request when she won the belt, in the sense that she wanted to make her first defense in the Dominican Republic.

In this vein, the National Boxing Commissioner, Ramón Valdez, thanked Camacho and De la Mota, when heeding the request for the ministry to support a potential first defense in the country of the Mini Pacman crown.

“From the Government and from the Ministry of Sports we continue to collaborate with professional boxing. This is the 21st professional billboard mounted in the country that we support this year,” Valdez said.

Belgium Peña revealed that -for the moment- it will be the last fight that Rosa will fight in her country, before settling in the United States to continue her career in that nation.

He argued that the cost of the tickets will be 3,000 pesos around the ring and 1,000 at a general level.
