Minecraft the Movie: a release date and a synopsis!

After almost ten years of development, the minecraft movie worn by Jason Momoa officially has a release date.

The movie adaptation of Minecraft was first hinted at in 2012, with Warner buying the film rights to the series in 2014. Since then, concrete news about the project has been almost non-existent. names like Shawn Levy (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) were approached to direct the film, but ultimately left the project, making way for Jared Hess to realization.

Minecraft will hit theaters worldwide on April 4, 2025, according to a press release issued by Warner (via Deadline). The studio had blocked this date for an untitled project for a long time. Minecraft the Movie was originally slated for release in 2022, as revealed in a blog post written by the team at Minecraft, but the idea was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The article describes the film as “the story of a teenage girl and her unlikely band of adventurers” who face “the malevolent Ender Dragon”.
