Minecraft won’t be free anytime soon. Ingela Garneij, Executive Producer at Mojang Studios, confirmed this in an interview with IGN. The game has been around for about 16 years.
Garneij says Mojang will keep selling the game. She thinks making it free wouldn’t work. “We built this game for a different purpose,” she said. “A one-time purchase is still the best answer for us.”
Mojang wants the game to reach as many people as possible. Garneij believes the game’s value is already a great deal. “It’s the best deal in the world,” she said.

Garneij also said Minecraft is still strong. Mojang’s focus is on making the game fun for everyone and keeping it going.
