Family of Late Leicester City Owner Seeks Unprecedented Compensation
It has been over five years since Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the owner of Leicester City, tragically lost his life in a helicopter accident. The incident occurred on October 28, 2018, when the helicopter crashed near the King Power Stadium, resulting in the deaths of five people, including Srivaddhanaprabha. The family of the late billionaire has been seeking justice and is now requesting unprecedented financial compensation for the accident.
A Lawsuit Against the Helicopter Manufacturer
The family has filed a lawsuit against Leonardo SpA, the Italian manufacturer of the helicopter, in the High Court of England. The lawsuit seeks 2,150 million pounds (over 2,500 million euros) in damages, which is believed to be one of the largest claims in English history. The family is seeking compensation for the loss of income and other damages suffered by Srivaddhanaprabha’s son and current Leicester City president, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, as well as the pain and suffering caused to the family.
The lawsuit claims that the helicopter’s manufacturer, Leonardo SpA, was negligent in the design and manufacture of the helicopter, which led to the fatal accident. The family’s lawyers argue that the company could have made modifications to the helicopter that would have prevented the accident.
A Long-Running Investigation
The investigation into the accident has been ongoing for several years. In September 2023, the Air Accident Investigation Division (AAIB) published a report that concluded the pilot was unable to avoid the accident due to a tail rotor failure. The report also questioned the safety of the aircraft and suggested that the manufacturer could have made modifications to prevent the accident.
The family’s lawsuit is a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the accident. The case is expected to be closely watched, as it could set a precedent for future lawsuits related to aviation accidents.
