Millie Bobby Brown Vows to Protect Adopted Daughter From Fame

Millie Bobby Brown is intensely protective of her newborn daughter. She wants to shield her child from the public spotlight.

Brown, 21, shared her views with British Vogue in a cover story published on Wednesday. "For me, it’s very important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to, potentially, someday, share it herself," Brown stated.

"It’s not my place to intentionally put her in the spotlight against her will," she added.

Brown emphasized their role as parents. "If she ever decides to share her personality with the world, as I did when I was young, that’s something we would support."

She continued, "But right now, as she is so young… As parents, it’s our job to protect her from that."

Brown and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, announced they welcomed their first child via adoption in August.

The couple has maintained privacy regarding family photos and their daughter’s name. They plan to keep the name private until "she is ready to decide for herself," Brown noted.

They are currently embracing the quiet joy of new parenthood. The Stranger Things actress described it as a "beautiful and incredible journey."

Brown told British Vogue that parenthood "has already taught us so much." She added, "Perspective is everything. The smallest things in life are much more valuable."

"Our days are full of cuddles, laughter, and love. It is pure joy," Brown shared.

The couple also equally shares most parenting duties. Brown confirmed they split everything "50/50."

Brown praised Bongiovi as a partner. "That’s why I’m so grateful to have him as my partner in this life. He is the most wonderful dad."

Brown and Bongiovi, 23, who is the son of rock icon Jon Bon Jovi, married in 2024 after two years of dating.

Having children was always a shared desire for the couple. Brown expressed this ambition even before meeting Bongiovi.

She recalled on the "SmartLess" podcast in March, "What I wanted was to have a family. A big family. I am one of four siblings. He is too."

Brown also stated, "For me, having my own child is not really different from adopting."

Their families are also delighting in their new grandchild. Jon Bon Jovi, 63, expressed his excitement in September.

"It’s crazy, but it’s great," Bon Jovi said on the "Dumb Blonde" podcast. "They adopted a girl, we met the baby, obviously, and immediately she becomes your granddaughter."

He called the experience "beautiful." Bon Jovi added, "I want to see pictures, like, every other day. I’m already that annoying grandpa, and yes, it’s great."

Weeks later, Bon Jovi told the Today show he "immediately" fell in love with his first grandchild.

"When we met Jake and Millie’s daughter it was immediate, like: ‘That’s my granddaughter,’ and it’s great," he recalled last month. "She won’t be able to walk for at least 10 or 12 years because her grandpa will carry her everywhere."
