
A military helicopter has crashed off the coast of Queensland, Australia. Four people are missing in this incident.
The crash happened Friday night during a nighttime training exercise between the Australian and US military. BBC news.
In a press conference on Saturday morning, the country’s defense minister, Richard Marles, said that a rescue operation has been started very quickly in this incident. However, the four missing people have not been found so far.
He said the MRH-90 Taipan helicopter crashed near Whitsunday Island around 10:30pm local time.
At the same press conference, Chief of Defense Staff Angus Campbell said it was a ‘terrible moment’ for us. Our main focus now is to find the missing and support their families and the rest of our team.
Following the incident, defense officials announced a pause in the training. The training also included troops from Japan, France, Germany and South Korea.
