Miley Cyrus Calls Podcast Host Alex Cooper Creepy In Viral Speech

Miley Cyrus publicly teased “Call Her Daddy” podcast host Alex Cooper during the Los Angeles premiere of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on Monday, March 23, 2026. Cyrus joked that Cooper’s decision to move next door to her Studio City ranch after achieving immense financial success was “kinda creepy.”

The interaction highlights the shifting power dynamics in celebrity media. Cooper, a self-described superfan of the Disney Channel series, transitioned from a traditional podcast host to a media executive after signing a $125 million distribution deal with SiriusXM in August 2024. Cooper’s company, Unwell Productions, executive-produced the milestone television special that debuted on streaming platforms on Tuesday, March 24.

Speaking to the live audience at the El Capitan Theatre, Cyrus addressed Cooper directly. “Alex being a superfan, kinda creepy,” Cyrus said. “She’s also my neighbour, which is also creepy. She got money, and then she moved next door to me.”

Cyrus originally purchased her Studio City property in 2011, while Cooper and her husband Matt Kaplan bought into the neighbourhood in 2022. Cyrus noted that Cooper acted surprised to be living in the exact same area, despite having visited the singer’s home for a podcast interview in 2020.

The playful exchanges continued in a promotional video produced with Variety, where Cyrus mocked Cooper for not knowing the lyrics to the song “Rockstar.” Cooper previously claimed the track was her favourite and has the lyrics “Tai Chi practicing, snowboard champion” tattooed on her arm.

Cooper served as the host for the anniversary event and suggested incorporating nostalgic elements into the production, including the original series transition music and a guest appearance by Selena Gomez. The special is currently available on Disney+ and Hulu.
