Miles Jacobson: Football Manager 25 Canceled Due to Shameful Quality

The world of video game development often hides its struggles, but sometimes, creators pull back the curtain. That’s what happened with Football Manager 25. While fans are excited about the newly announced Football Manager 26, many still remember the earlier game’s cancellation. The game’s creator knew players would be disappointed, yet felt strongly against releasing a product that simply wasn’t ready.

Miles Jacobson, the mind behind Football Manager, spoke plainly about the development of the now-canceled 25th installment. He shared his thoughts with BBC Newsbeat, calling the whole process “embarrassing.” He admitted that many issues arose during the game’s creation. Jacobson also understood that many people were unhappy about the cancellation. He himself knew the game’s quality never met his high expectations.

Jacobson added that he aimed for as much openness as possible regarding the decision. He stood firm, stating that pushing out a game in such a state would have caused more harm than good. It would have deeply impacted his team for a very long time. Releasing it would have turned into their most expensive lesson.

Despite the setback, the Football Manager series continues. The team recently announced Football Manager 26. This new version will come with full Premier League licensing. A release date for the game has not yet been shared.
