Milei and the Pope smooth things over in the Vatican with a hug, alfajores and lemon cookies

Pope Francis met with Argentine President Javier Milei for the first time this Monday in the Vatican for an hour and gave him dulce de leche alfajores and lemon cookies. The private meeting started at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 10:00 a.m. This was followed by the welcoming of the delegation and the presentation of gifts, the Vatican reported.

Milei arrived at the Patio de San Damaso, which gives access to the Apostolic Palace, at 8:58 a.m., a few minutes late since his arrival was scheduled for 8:45 a.m. because he stopped in front of the Argentine on the way to the meeting Embassy to take a photo with some compatriots.
