Milan reaches Italian Cup semi-finals with goals from Giroud

Olivier Giroud scored twice to take four goals in two games as Milan thrashed Lazio 4-0 on Wednesday to reach the Coppa Italia semi-finals.

After scoring a pair of late goals to help the Rossoneri beat Serie A leaders Inter 2-1 on Saturday, the French striker got both of his first-half goals.

Milan, a five-time cup champion, took the lead midway through the first half at the San Siro through Portuguese winger Rafael Leao.

Center back Alessio Romagnoli supplied a long pass that Leao ended up sending into the net for his second goal in the competition and ninth in total this campaign.

Giroud gave goal to a cross from Leao in the 41st minute and another from his compatriot Theo Hernández moments after the break. Giroud has 10 goals in 22 games since he joined the Italian giants after spending four years at Chelsea.

Midfielder Franck Kessie scored the fourth goal, 10 minutes from time. Milan have not won this tournament since 2003 and are now in the top four list, along with Milan.

Defending champion Juventus meet Sassuolo on Thursday, the same day last year’s finalists Atalanta take on Fiorentina.
