Mike Trout could return to Angels soon after ‘encouraging’ practice

Mike Trout spoke to the press a little over two weeks ago after seeing a spinal specialist and said he had been making good progress from his back injury.

The Angels’ All-Star outfielder then began rotational exercises on Aug. 3, and last Monday, he began swinging off a tee, Angels interim manager Phil Nevin said.

Last Saturday, he continued to make progress with moderate workouts in the field and since then, he has been shooting and running with no problems.

However, he took an important step in his recovery on Monday, taking live batting practice that Nevin described as “pretty encouraging” and added that it would be up to Trout to make a rehab assignment to the minors or not.

Otherwise, Trout could join the Angels in the next few days.
