The former Major League Baseball player, Miguel Tejada, said that with the accusation against him, for allegedly issuing bad checks,He has been the victim of extortion.
“I have simply been the victim of extortion, that is what I have been the victim of extortion,” he told members of the press as they led him through the halls of the Palace of Justice.
The arrest warrant against Tejada was issued by the Court of the Execution of the Penalty of the National District in December of last year.
The former baseball player was detained at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA), when he was preparing to take a flight to New York City, United States.
This afternoon, a judge of the Execution of the Penalty is scheduled to hear the hearing. Tejada is accused of fraud for the alleged issuance of checks with no funds.
