Miguel Tavares scores four goals, eyes Vizela squad spot in pre-season.

Miguel Tavares seeks a place in Vizela's squad

The pre-season grind is where futures are shaped. Every drill, every friendly game, is a chance to show what you’re made of. For Miguel Tavares, a 26-year-old Portuguese winger, this summer at Vizela is all about earning a second chance. He’s back with the squad, eager to impress coach Ricardo Sousa and secure a spot for the new season.

Tavares first joined Vizela in the summer of 2024 from Belenenses. But his time was cut short. He played just eight games and scored one goal in the first half of last season. Then, he went on a six-month loan to Academia Puerto Cabello in Venezuela, where he played 17 matches. Now, he’s returned to Vizela, ready to prove his worth.

And prove it he has. Tavares is leaving a strong impression in the team’s practice games. His scoring boots are certainly on. He has already netted four goals. Two of those came in a match against Vizela’s own Under-23 team. He also found the net in games against Académica and Anadia.

These strong performances are hard to ignore. Coach Sousa is carefully watching Tavares’s every move. Nothing is decided yet for the winger’s future at the club. But Miguel Tavares has certainly done everything he can to make a powerful case for himself to stay.
