It seems Miguel Oliveira is ready for a big change. Reports from the German magazine ‘Speedweek’ suggest he has a “verbal agreement” with BMW. This deal would see the Portuguese rider compete in the Superbike World Championship starting in 2026. Oliveira, currently with Prima Pramac, needs a new home since his MotoGP spot for next season is gone. He appears set to join the German factory team.
The magazine further claims that only the contract needs to be written and signed. This should happen in the next few weeks. BMW wants to announce its two riders for 2026 by the Aragon Grand Prix. This race is the second-to-last Superbike event of the season, happening from September 26th to 28th in Spain.
Interestingly, Oliveira is expected to take over the seat of Toprak Razgatlioglu. Razgatlioglu is the current world champion in Superbike. He also happens to be the rider who stepped into Oliveira’s potential spot at Prima Pramac in MotoGP. It’s a real game of musical chairs in the racing world.
At BMW, Oliveira will team up with Danilo Petrucci. The 34-year-old Italian also has a history in MotoGP. This means Michael van der Mark, who has raced for BMW for the past five seasons, will be moving on.
