The Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) will offer its support to the Capotillo 5K Marathon dedicated to President Luis Abinader, organized by the Doña Bartola Social and Community Foundation and the Sports Union of that popular sector.
The fair, which is expected to have a record number of participants, will be held on April 2, starting at nine in the morning, starting from Respaldo José Martí street with the corner of Avenida de los Mártires, in Capotillo.
The technical director of Miderec, Neftalí Ventura, announced that the ambitious project is part of the extensive program of activities that the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and its owner, Francisco Camacho, have on their agenda, by order of President Luis Abinader.
“With this athletics marathon we seek to attract talents that tomorrow will be part of our Dominican teams in international competitions,” said Ventura, at a press conference held at the Miderec headquarters.
He assured that the five-kilometer race will fill a void in that populous neighborhood of Capotillo, since this type of activity has not arrived there for a long time.
He added that the activity will have the presence of athletics technicians from the Ministry of Sports, and the endorsement of the Dominican Athletics Federation and the Association of that sport of the National District.
He announced that the activities will expand throughout all the neighborhoods of the National District and the Santo Domingo province, and that they not only seek to bring together the inhabitants of those sectors and surrounding areas, but also to detect young people and adolescents who meet the conditions to incorporate them. to organized sports practice.
