The Ministry of Sports and Recreation will launch this Friday, starting at 2:00 in the afternoon, the First Municipal Games of Villa La Mata, Cotuí, Sánchez Ramírez province, a contest in which more than 400 athletes will participate. in 13 sports disciplines.
These first games of La Mata will be the fourth that are held at the national level during the administration of Sports Minister Francisco Camacho, who will continue the policy established by the superior government to develop and spread sports in all communities of the national territory.
Even last November, on instructions from Camacho, reconstruction work began on the Villa la Mata multipurpose facility, which is already in the painting phase.
Prior to the celebration of these games that begin this Friday and will last until Sunday, they were held last year in the municipalities of Sánchez and Las Terrenas, both in the Province of Samaná, as well as in Baní, in Peravia.
According to information issued by the Technical Directorate of Miderec, the event will compete in chess, karate, basketball, baseball, softball, taekwondo, athletics, table tennis, boxing, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, ladies, among others.
Children from 11 years old to adults will compete in the different disciplines, with the Hermanos Veras Sports Club being the main venue where the competitions will take place, in addition to several of the parks, venues where chess and checkers will be played.
The different localities of the demarcation will be divided into four zones. The technical conference was held on Thursday afternoon.
The winners in the different categories and disciplines will be awarded with trophies, medals and certificates.
For the celebration of these municipal games, an organizing committee has been chosen that is chaired by the engineer Miguel Martínez, mayor of Villa La Mata, while Daniel Landrón will be the general director.
Upcoming Games
After the Municipal games of La Mata conclude, the Ministry of Sports has already scheduled to continue them in San Rafael del Yuma, La Altagracia province, from April 8 to 10; and the following week they will be held in the town of Ramón Santana, San Pedro de Macorís.
In July they will be held in Gaspar Hernández, Espaillat province and also in the municipality of Los Llanos, in San Pedro de Macorís.
