Brazilian esports team MIBR kicked off their VCT Americas Stage 1 playoff run on Thursday night against 100 Thieves. The match was a best-of-three series in the upper bracket. MIBR secured their playoff spot on April 19 after defeating FURIA, with pro player Erick “aspas” Santos describing the win as “like a training session” in a post-game interview.
The first map was Split, chosen by 100 Thieves. MIBR dominated the first half, leading 7-5. Despite 100 Thieves’ efforts after the side switch, MIBR took the map 13-10.
Dominant Performance on Icebox
The second map was Icebox, one of aspas’ strongest maps. MIBR controlled the game, winning 13-4. They didn’t allow 100 Thieves to score in the second half.
MIBR’s next match is against KRÜ Esports in the upper bracket. The winner will qualify for the VCT Masters Toronto and receive 5 Americas Points.
