Miami Defeats Louisville 78-73 to Advance to ACC Tournament Semifinals

The No. 3 seed Miami Hurricanes defeated the No. 6 seed Louisville Cardinals 78-73 on Thursday afternoon in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The victory sends Miami to the tournament semifinals against No. 10 Virginia. The result serves as direct retribution for a 92-89 loss to the Cardinals on March 7 during their regular-season finale in Coral Gables.

Miami forward Malik Reneau led the scoring with 24 points. He registered 18 of those points during the second half. Tru Washington provided a secondary scoring presence off the bench with 17 points. Washington secured the outcome in the final minute with a steal and consecutive free throws.

Louisville guard Ryan Conwell paced the Cardinals with 22 points and nine rebounds. The matchup featured heavy physical play throughout the opening period. Three Louisville players sustained minor bloody injuries during the first half.

Louisville exits the ACC Tournament following the quarterfinal loss. The Cardinals will await their NCAA Tournament placement on Selection Sunday.
