Mexicans make history at Roland Garros

For the first time in 32 years there are two Mexican players in the third round of a Grand Slam. Santiago González and Miguel Reyes Varela agreed to the third phase with their respective partner and little by little they reap more successes for tennis in our country.

González together with the Frenchman Roger-Vasselin defeated the Hindu couple made up of Myneni and Bhambri 6-4 and 7-5 to get ahead in the Roland Garros box. On the other hand, Varela and Aleksandr Nedóvesov left behind the Uruguayan Ariel Behar and the Czech Adam Pavlásek in three sets (6-4, 1-6 and 6-1).

Reyes Varela and Nesóvesov will face each other in the third round with the number one seeded couple of the tournament, the British Skupski together with the Dutch Kollhof. In the other key, Santi González and Roger-Vasselin go against the Belgians Vliegen and Gille in search of a place in the next round.

It should be remembered that the González-Vasselin duo already knows what it is to win a tournament this year. A few months ago they took the Miami Masters 1000 and precisely in the quarterfinals they beat those who will be rivals de Reyes Varela and Aleksandr in the third round of Roland Garros.
