MetaMask and Robinhood are teaming up to open a new gateway to crypto

MetaMask, the well-known self-custody crypto wallet, is working hard. After announcing a major partnership with payments giant Visa last week, the crypto wallet is now joining forces with major Robinhood.

Using the Robinhood integration, MetaMask users can now buy crypto with Robinhood’s liquidity. The two parties have this through X announced.

MetaMask is making progress

MetaMask integrates Robinhood Connect as a fiat on-ramp service for crypto. This integration allows MetaMask users to easily purchase cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) with fiat currencies like dollars and euros.

The deal between MetaMask and Robinhood is a new step in crypto adoption. The deal closes the gap between the crypto sector and the traditional financial industry. The integration is currently only available to users in the United States.

Buying crypto via the MetaMask wallet was already possible. Decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms such as Uniswap have been integrated. Now the Robinhood option is added. The Robinhood integration allows users to purchase cryptocurrencies through Robinhood’s “order flow.” Robinhood users can also seamlessly transfer crypto assets from the broker to their MetaMask wallet.

With these new applications, MetaMask users are gaining more and more autonomy and control over their crypto. With this big step, the dependence on centralized exchanges will become less and less. Lorenzo Santos of MetaMask agrees.

“We know that internet and crypto users want more control and ownership. (This collaboration) will help people access crypto seamlessly and with “self-custody.” We do this by offering them purchasing options from service providers they already use and trust.”

Visa is also looking to introduce cryptocurrencies

Last week, global payment service Visa also announced crypto integration. In collaboration with Web3 infrastructure service provider Transak, Visa has been enabling direct sales of crypto since last week. The service is available in 145 countries, also in the Netherlands.

Visa’s new integration allows selling cryptocurrencies and depositing funds to a Visa payment card directly from a crypto wallet like MetaMask. This eliminates the need to use centralized exchanges to sell crypto. Read more about this in this article.
