Meta Unifies Facebook Videos into Reels, Expands Video Length Beyond 90 Seconds

Meta is making a big change to how videos work on Facebook. The company plans to turn all videos into Reels, a short-form video format, and roll it out globally over the next few months.

Currently, Facebook users can choose between posting regular videos or Reels. But soon, all videos shared on the platform will be shown as Reels. Meta says this change is meant to make it easier for users to create, share, and find Reels on their personal profiles and pages.

What’s Changing

Facebook will still support all types of videos, including short and long videos, as well as live streams. The platform is removing the 90-second limit for Reels, allowing users to create longer videos. The “Video” tab on Facebook will also be renamed to “Reels.”

Meta is making similar changes to Instagram, where Reels can now be up to 3 minutes long. By making these changes, Meta is pushing Reels to the forefront of its content strategy. The company’s video recommendation system will still work based on individual user interests.

The changes are part of Meta’s efforts to simplify its video features and make it easier for users to create and share content.
