Meta opens its first store to test its virtual reality devices

Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse sets foot in the physical world. Meta will open its first physical store on May 9 in Burlingame, Calif. The company’s hardware products will be exhibited there. Buyers will be able to try and buy virtual reality devices, such as the Portal video call center, the Quest 2 virtual reality glasses and the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses.

Since Zuckerberg announced his most ambitious project to date with the metaverse last October, Meta has worked to make this virtual space where people interact, work and play. Zuckerberg believes that it will be the next great computing revolution after mobile phones.

Meta has reached a collaboration agreement with EssilorLuxottica SA, the international ophthalmic optics company, to sell its accessories. The two firms teamed up to produce Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses, which were sold in some of the Franco-Italian company’s 8,000 retail stores around the world.
