Messi will have three extra days off before the last game

Lionel Messi and Paris Saint Germain do not want to risk anything, two weeks before the start of the World Cup. For this reason, the Argentine star, like the rest of the figures that will be in the tournament, will only return to training next Thursday, since everything the Parisian squad received three days off in the preview of the last game before the break for the contest in Qatar.

The reigning French champion published the program for the week on Monday after Sunday’s 2-1 victory against Lorient, and the first training session for the players was set for Thursday. Messi was not in that match, which featured the Brazilian Neymar, since “as a precaution” the Argentine player was ruled out due to inflammation of the Achilles tendon.

It is discounted that the Rosario crack will rejoin the squad that same Thursday and may be available to DT Christophe Galtier for the last match of the French League 1 before the break for the World Cup. For the fifteenth date of the French League, PSG – current leader and defender of the title – will host Auxerre at the Parque los Príncipes stadium, next Sunday at 9 in Argentina.

After the meeting, Messi will be released and will join the Argentine national team in Abu Dhabi. On Monday 14, the same day that Lionel Scaloni will provide the final list of 26 players for the tournament, the presence of 10 is expected at the open training at Al-Nahyan Stadium which still has tickets available, unlike the friendly on Wednesday the 16th against the local team, led by Rodolfo Arruabarrena, which has sold out the seats at the Mohammed Bin Zayed stadium.

In the current season, Messi had already been absent in two other games, against Reims and Benfica from Portugal in the first half of October, for a pain in one of his twins. This new physical inconvenience interrupted a rising moment of the Argentine captain, author of 12 goals in the last 11 games played with PSG for the French tournament and the European Champions League, and with the national team in friendly matches.
