“Messi sent me a message on Instagram and called me a donkey”

Former footballer Jamie Carragher served as commentator for Norwich’s crucial 3-0 win over Watford. And after the game was over, both he and Gary Neville chose their teams of the year. Carragher did not include Messi in his eleven and that led to him revealing an anecdote that happened to him a few months ago. “I messed with Cristiano at the beginning of the season, because I didn’t think he was a great signing for United. And I gave the example of Messi, because I didn’t think Messi was a great signing for PSG either.. It was on the Monday Night Football show. Then I got a message on Instagram from him. I’m not going to show the private messages, but he basically called me a donkey.”, revealed the former English international.

Carragher continued talking about the subject and justifying his ideal eleven of the year without the presence of the Ballon d’Or: “He watches Monday Night Football, so I hope he also watches Friday Night Football, because I love Lionel. The best player of all time, and compared to you, I was a donkey, I accept it. But you’re not getting on my team. You haven’t played well enough, even though you won the Copa América in the summer. It’s not enough to shut out my man, Mo Salah.”

Carragher’s ideal eleven is formed by Gianluigi Donnarumma; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ruben Dias, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Spinazzola; Kevin De Bruyne, N’Golo Kante, Marco Verratti; Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah.
