Messi leads the ideal South American team of 2021

Rosario star Lionel Messi heads the ideal South American team of 2021 for the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) and is accompanied by the Argentines Rodrigo De Paul, Lautaro Martínez, Christian Romero and Emiliano Martínez.

The AFA made official on its official website the ideal formation of the IFFHS in the year where Argentina won the Copa América in Brazil.

The team is made up of the following way: Martínez; Mauricio Isla (Chile), Romero, Marquinhos (Brazil), Filipe Luis (Brazil); Messi, De Paul, Luis Díaz (Colombia); Gabriel Barbosa (Brazil), Lautaro, Neymar (Brazil).

Messi was also chosen by the IFFHS as one of the best footballers of the year in the dream team around the world.

Lionel Scaloni was selected as coach for a formation with a marked national presence.

Among the substitutes there are two more Argentines: Ignacio Fernández, who had a great season at Atlético Mineiro in Brazil, to such an extent that he was elected the best midfielder in the league in that country; and Julián Álvarez, the forward figure of River Plate, the last Argentine soccer champion.

Weverton (Brazil), Vanderson (Brazil), Gustavo Gómez (Paraguay), Casemiro (Brazil) and Hulk complete the roster.
