Meta (formerly Facebook) announced the availability of new privacy options for all Messenger users. From now on, all forms of communication on this platform will have end-to-end encryption.

Strictly speaking, the company has just launched the option to encrypt all communications made in chat groups. Whether it’s voice, video or text, every message you send will be kept away from prying eyes.

Messenger already encrypts all forms of communication of its users

It is important to note that Meta’s communication platform already had end-to-end encryption. However, this privacy reservation was only available in individual chats, that is, one on one.

Now, however, group chats will also benefit from this important security measure in their communications. Once the trial period for this feature is over, it’s time to make it available to all Messenger users.

It is important to note that this feature will not be active by default. This means that if you want to start a group chat with encrypted messages, you will need to go to settings and create an encrypted chat room.

Once this form of communication is defined, all the members of that chat room will have the rest that all their messages will be encrypted. Only the participants in that room will be able to read the messages sent by the other members of the group.

GIFs, stickers, reactions or replies are all encrypted

It is important to note that with the new update, all forms of expression will be end-to-end encrypted. It also means that GIFs, stickersreactions or direct answers will be encrypted.

It will also be possible to forward a certain message to another contact. To do this, simply press and hold on a message and the option to forward that same message will appear.

Another novelty announced concerns notifications of screenshots. This will be triggered whenever someone takes a screenshot of any temp message.

Last but not least, we have the introduction of verified badges that certify the authenticity of accounts, save media with a long press, and edit photos or videos directly in the app.
