Get ready for a glimpse into the future of cars. Mercedes-AMG just showed off its new Concept AMG GT XX. This isn’t just a fancy design study. It’s a bold look at what electric sports cars will be like. The GT XX promises to make already hot days even hotter.
Power That Speaks Volumes
The AMG GT XX sits on a new base called the AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA). It’s a four-door car painted in a striking “sunset beam” orange. But the real magic is what’s under the hood. This car has three electric motors. These axial flux motors create a huge 1,341 horsepower. The GT XX can hit a top speed of 359 kilometers per hour. Its battery is also revolutionary. It can add 400 kilometers of range in just five minutes. That’s a speed record for charging electric cars.
A Car That Communicates
Electric cars are quiet, which can be a safety issue for people walking. Mercedes has a smart fix. They put speakers right into the front headlights. This new idea alerts pedestrians that a car is nearby. This design saves space and makes the car lighter. It also lets the car make different sounds.
The back of the car has the MBUX Fluid Light Panel. It’s made of 700 tiny lights that change color (RGB LEDs). This panel can show messages like the AMG logo. It can also display the car’s charging status. The system can show text or cool animations. When the car is off, the panel looks like a three-dimensional pixel art display.
The concept car also uses MBUX Fluid Light Paint. This is a special paint with glowing parts. These parts light up when an electric current runs through them. For example, they can show how much battery charge is left. As the car charges, the glowing segments slowly fade away.
Eco-Friendly Tech Inside
The inside of the GT XX uses an exciting new material called LABFIBER. This material comes in two types.
One type is Biotech Leather Alternative. It’s made from recycled GT3 racing tires. Mercedes worked with an American company, Modern Meadow, on this. It looks and feels like real leather. But it’s lighter, lets air pass through, and keeps water out. It can also come in many textures and colors. Just one old racing tire can make four square meters of this eco-friendly material.
The other type is Biotech Silk Alternative. This silk is made from proteins created by special bacteria. It breaks down naturally, so it’s 100% biodegradable. It works just as well as traditional silk. In the GT XX, you can find this material on the door handles.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX is more than just a cool concept. It’s a working showcase of new technologies. These materials and ideas will appear in future Mercedes electric cars. This car gives us a real peek into what tomorrow’s electric sports car will be like.
