Meena Kumari Biopic: Director Siddharth Malhotra Denies Kiara Advani’s Involvement

The buzz around Meena Kumari’s biopic has gotten everyone in the industry talking. Recently, there were rumors that Kiara Advani might play the legendary actress in the film ‘Kamal Aur Meena’. But director Siddharth P. Malhotra is setting the record straight.

In a chat with Amar Ujala Digital, Siddharth made it clear that neither the script is final nor has any actress been signed for the film. He said, “It’s too early to say who will play this role and who won’t. We’re still in talks, and nothing is finalized yet.” The director seems surprised by the media reports and claims that none of these statements are coming from his team or the producers.

Siddharth explained that as soon as the news of a Meena Kumari biopic broke out, the entire industry started buzzing. “Meena Kumari is a legend, and whenever a role like this comes up, the whole industry gets active. Many actresses have shown interest, but nothing is official yet.” He also mentioned that it’s not fair to mention any names at this point, as it might give the wrong impression that a particular actress has been finalized for the role.

The biopic ‘Kamal Aur Meena’ will showcase Meena Kumari and Kamal Amrohi’s relationship, love, and complexities from 1950 to 1970. The story is based on over 500 real love letters and diary entries written by the couple. A.R. Rahman will be composing the music for the film, which will also feature some unreleased tunes from ‘Pakeezah’. This film promises to be an emotional journey for old Bollywood fans and a chance to know the lives of cinema legends up close.

As for the cast, names like Kiara Advani, Alia Bhatt, and Shraddha Kapoor have been doing the rounds. However, Siddharth is tight-lipped about the casting, saying that every big actress in the industry has shown interest in the project, but nothing can be confirmed as of now. The film is still in its initial stages, and it seems like the makers are taking their time to get everything just right.
