MediaTek has introduced a new mid-range chip, the Helio G200, designed for budget-friendly smartphones with a focus on 4G connectivity. The chip’s CPU configuration is similar to its predecessor, the Helio G100, featuring two Cortex-A76 cores for high-performance tasks at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores for power efficiency at 2.0 GHz. The GPU is a Mali-G57, clocked at 1.1 GHz, showing a slight improvement over the Helio G100.
The Helio G200 supports LPDDR4X RAM at speeds of up to 4,266 Mbps and UFS 2.2 storage. Benchmark tests using AnTuTu and Geekbench have shown that the Helio G200 outperforms the Helio G100 in several areas, particularly in gaming. The results indicate a 35% increase in overall performance, a 40% boost in single-core processing, and a 20% improvement in multi-core processing. The GPU has seen a significant 75% speed increase, while power management has become 30% more efficient.
Camera and Display Capabilities
The Helio G200 can handle camera sensors up to 200 megapixels and features technologies like multi-frame noise reduction and Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) for 12-bit HDR video processing. For displays, it supports Full HD+ resolution at a 120 Hz refresh rate. The chip also includes Intelligent Display Sync, a technology that adjusts the refresh rate to match the content being displayed, helping to reduce power consumption.
Connectivity Features
In terms of connectivity, the Helio G200 comes with a 4G LTE Cat-13 modem, offering download speeds of up to 391.7 Mbps. It supports 4G VoLTE, 4×4 MIMO, and 256QAM, making it compatible with various global frequency bands. The chip also features 4G DC SAR, enhancing the performance of social media and messaging apps in low-signal environments.
The Helio G200 is essentially an updated version of the Helio G100, with improvements in speed and power management aimed at keeping the mid-range smartphone market competitive.
