Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy won the Scottish Open of golf on Sunday thanks to a birdie on the last hole, his first victory in this competition.
McIlroy, who has won four major tournaments in his career, saw the advantage he had acquired the day before evaporate at the start of the fourth and final day, marked by a strong wind.
Having missed a first birdie on the 16th hole, the Northern Irishman rallied on the 17th to level with local Robert MacIntyre, each carding 14 shots below par.
In the 18th he made a great approach shot and finished off the birdie with a putt of more than three meters, which gave him the final victory.
