Allegations of Misconduct Resurface Against Former UFC Champion
A new lawsuit has been filed against Conor McGregor, the former UFC champion, alleging that he committed sexual assault against an unnamed woman after a 2023 NBA Finals game. This is not the first time McGregor has faced allegations of misconduct, as he was previously convicted of sexual assault in Dublin, Ireland.
The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of Florida, claims that McGregor assaulted the woman in a stadium bathroom after a Miami Heat game. The woman alleges that McGregor was “visibly intoxicated” and that the stadium staff failed to stop serving him alcohol. The lawsuit also claims that McGregor’s acquaintance grabbed the woman’s wrist and led her out of the club, and that McGregor then attempted to force himself on her.
The incident initially came to light when the woman reported it to Miami police, but the state prosecutor’s office declined to file criminal charges. However, the woman’s attorney, James Dunn, stated that the civil lawsuit is the only way his client can seek justice in the case.
McGregor has denied the allegations, calling them “nothing more than extortion.” The lawsuit seeks past and future medical treatment, compensatory damages in excess of $75,000, and litigation costs.
The Facts Surrounding the Alleged Incident
The lawsuit claims that McGregor was present at the Miami Heat game to promote a new sponsor, and that he became “out of control” after consuming alcohol. The woman alleges that McGregor’s acquaintance grabbed her wrist and led her out of the club, and that McGregor then appeared and led her to a stadium bathroom. The lawsuit claims that McGregor attempted to force himself on the woman, but she managed to escape and leave the stadium.
The lawsuit also claims that the stadium staff was negligent in allowing McGregor to continue serving himself alcohol despite being visibly intoxicated. The lawsuit states that this demonstrates a “conscious disregard for the safety of clients” who are in a similar situation to the plaintiff.
This is not the only controversy surrounding McGregor’s behavior at the Miami Heat game. It was reported that McGregor sent the Miami Heat mascot to the hospital after hitting him twice, including once when he was already on the ground.
