McCullers shines again, Peña double RBI, Montero saves and Astros win

Lance McCullers Jr. impressed again in his return from a hamstring injury and pitched into the sixth inning as the Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-2 on Friday night.

In his fourth start of the season, McCullers (2-1) got the win after giving up two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings, passing four balls and striking out seven.

Jeremy Peña had an RBI double for the Astros, who posted their eighth win in 10 games. Houston holds an 11-game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the American League West.

Reid Detmers (5-5) took the loss after allowing four runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Rafael Montero, pitching the ninth for his 11th save of the year, closed out the game by striking out Shohei Ohtani.

For the Astros, the Venezuelan José Altuve 4-1, with two runs scored. The Dominicans Jeremy Peña 5-2, with an RBI; Yainer Díaz 3-0, with one produced. Cuban Yulieski Gurriel 3-1. Puerto Rican Martin Maldonado 4-0.

For the Angels, the Venezuelan Luis Rengifo 3-0.
