French forward Kylian Mbappé, now playing for Real Madrid, was awarded the 2024/2025 European Golden Boot on Friday, marking a significant personal achievement in his debut season with the Spanish club.
The 26-year-old striker secured the prestigious award by scoring 31 goals in 34 Spanish league matches, accumulating 62 points.
His performance edged out Viktor Gyokeres, the former Sporting Lisbon forward who is now with Arsenal. Gyokeres netted 39 goals in 33 matches but recorded only 58.5 points due to a different league coefficient, which weights goals based on the strength of the league.
Mohamed Salah of Liverpool finished third in the rankings for the award.
The ceremony took place in the VIP Box of Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Mbappé expressed his gratitude, stating, “I hope to win the Golden Boot again next time. I started well, but we’ll see. Thank you all.”
For the current 2025/2026 season, Mbappé has already scored 11 goals in 10 La Liga matches, continuing his strong form.
