Kylian Mbappé is a household name today. He is known as the second most expensive player in history, costing Paris Saint-Germain 180 million euros from Monaco. But before all the fame and the record-breaking transfer, his path could have been very different. The 26-year-old French forward recently sat down with the German newspaper ‘Bild’. He was asked a simple question: which German clubs tried to sign him early on? His answer came fast.
Mbappé chuckled as he recalled those early days. “Many clubs came looking,” he told ‘Bild’. He remembered Bayern Munich chasing him when he was still very young. At that time, leaving Monaco was still an option for him. Borussia Dortmund also threw their hat into the ring. And so did RB Leipzig. “These are just the three I remember,” Mbappé added. He even admitted, “Maybe others tried, but I don’t recall them.” The forward then delivered a playful punchline: “Now everyone wants me, but it’s a bit late.”
