Kylian Mbappé’s dream has finally come true. He’s now a Real Madrid player. In his first interview with La Sexta, he shared his journey to getting here. “As a kid, I knew I wanted to play for Real Madrid,” he said. “It was always in my head and in my heart.”
Mbappé had to address rumors about his move. He said money wasn’t the main reason he chose Real Madrid. “I want to be happy on and off the field,” he explained. “My family and I talked it over, and I knew I’d be happy here.” He also made it clear that his comments about money weren’t aimed at his old club, Paris Saint-Germain.
On Twitter, Mbappé clarified his statement: “No relation to PSG. Focus on what’s happening in France, and don’t worry about the rest.” He’s happy with his decision and doesn’t see himself playing anywhere else. “I’ve just arrived, and I’m focused on Madrid,” he said.
Mbappé recalled the pressure he faced last season to stay with PSG. Even the French president weighed in. “I just wanted to play football,” he said. “We handled the pressure as best we could, but sometimes we made mistakes.” He’s grateful for the support of his family and Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Pérez.
So, what’s next for Mbappé? He’s a fan of the club’s history and wants to win titles. “I grew up watching Zidane and the ‘galácticos’,” he said. “Then Cristiano Ronaldo came along, and I became an even bigger fan.” When asked to choose between the Ballon d’Or and the Champions League, Mbappé chose the latter. “I want to make history with Real Madrid,” he said. “Our coach, Ancelotti, is a legend, and I’m excited to work with him.”
