Mayor cancels Manny Manuel’s performance at festival:

The presentation last night of the Puerto Rican merenguero Manny Manuel at the closing of the Fricasé Festival, in Puerto Rico, was canceled by the mayor of Naranjito, Orlando Ortiz Chevres, allegedly for not being able to sing.

In a video circulating on social networks, Ortiz Chevres is seen on stage saying: “I am sorry to have to say that the conditions in which this great human being arrived, who has enormous talent, but who requires help and prayer, Manny Manuel couldn’t stand here in those conditions to sing in front of this audience.”

The municipal mayor assured that something similar had never happened to him and regretted the situation, assuming his responsibility for frustrating the show.

Despite what happened, local media reported that “The King of Hearts” will perform this Monday afternoon in a special edition of the Telemundo program “Día a día”, on the occasion of the last walk of “Da vida”, which will be broadcast from the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Hato Rey.

For his part, Manny Manuel spoke with Orlando Rivera Ortega, producer of the failed event of the Fricasé Festival in Naranjito, in addition to apologize and propose to do a free show in that municipality.

“We had a conversation in the morning. He asked me for forgiveness… I have him tomorrow at the closing of the 200 years of Quebradillas and he told me not to cancel that event and to allow him to go do the show,” he revealed. Rivera Ortega to the newspaper El Vocero.
