Third place in the last British GP has earned a spot for Aleix Espargaró at the official press conference of Aragon GP. That and that she came to her for the first time dressed as Aprilia his new boxing partner, a Maverick Viñales, whose signing for Noale’s house has had a lot to do with Granollers. There is a passionate duel between the two.
-This is a good circuit for you, where you got your first podium in MotoGP, and the Aprilia usually does well. Are you hoping to get something great again?
-Yes, obviously I have a bit more confidence after the Silverstone result. Of course, the podium was very important, although the most important thing for me is the level we are showing in the season, in each grand prix, in each session, in any condition, we are always close to the top riders. After the podium I feel a little more relaxed and now we have to try to do it even a little bit better, to start by still in the fight for the podium. This is a circuit that I like, and the bike has done quite well here in recent years, so I am looking forward to the grand prix. The weather seems a little better than last season where we had some problems, we all suffered because it was quite cold. I am looking forward to going out on track.
-I had been asking Aprilia for a long time to bring in a pilot with potential to win, someone with experience, and now he has Maverick Viñales by his side. Maybe you weren’t expecting it to arrive so soon …
-I am very happy that Maverick has joined our team, I think it comes at the best moment in the history of Aprilia in competition. Maverick and I have been talking for a long time about Aprilia, about joining us in the future, but after everything that happened in Austria I am very happy that he can be racing with us again. I think that with him as a teammate we now have a very strong team, also with Savadori in the role of test driver. I think the future is bright for us although, obviously, improving from where we are now is not going to be easy, because the level is very high, those in front of me are very strong, also their bikes. But the challenge is very nice: Maverick and I are ready to face it.
-It already has a podium and that means that Aprilia is a little closer to losing the concessions. Would it be a problem if they lost them already by 2022?
-I do not like. I mean, it has been good to have them to improve, to get closer to the strongest brands, but now we have to run with the same tools as the others, we have already shown that we can fight with them, that we have a good level, so it’s time to advance. I will do my best to lose those concessions, not because of the concessions, but because not having them next year would mean that I have won a race, or that I have made more than three podiums. I’m going to go for it.
