Mask at school: the list of departments where it is still compulsory

While health restrictions are easing in schools in certain territories, 23 departments still maintain the compulsory wearing of masks at school.

According to the government update published Thursday, October 14, the departments where the mask is still required for schoolchildren are as follows: Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes, Ardèche, Aude , Bouches-du-Rhône, Southern Corsica, Hérault, Jura, Lozère, Mayenne, Rhône, Haute-Savoie, Vaucluse, Paris, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de -Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d’Oise, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana.

In view of their epidemic indicators, these territories still apply level 2 of the school health protocol, initially set up to deal with a resumption of the Covid-19 epidemic.

79 DEPARTMENTS HAVE NOW DROPPED THE MASK at school

Conversely, the health situation has improved in recent weeks over a large part of the country. In doing so, more and more departments were allowed to remove the mask at school. For the record, these are those where the incidence rate has been less than 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants for at least five days, as Gabriel Attal recalled on September 22. This Thursday, October 14, this exemption from wearing the compulsory mask at school concerned 79 departments.

In this context, other restrictions will also be lifted from next Monday in these territories. Eating in class groups will, for example, no longer be compulsory. Children will therefore have the chance to have lunch with their friends rather than in imposed class groups. Sports activities will also be allowed again both indoors and outdoors.
