The Unicaja carried out this Wednesday an emotional act of recognition to the figure of José María Martín Urbanowho passed away last October and who from now on will give his name to the pavilion of the Los Guindos sports complex.
The event was attended by his widow, Maribel Galindo, and a very broad representation of the club and Málaga institutions. During it, the compositor president, Antonio Jesús López Nieto, recalled the importance that Martín Urbano had in the development of the club and basketball in Malaga. And it is that he was a key man in the creation of the entity, of which he was part in his day as coach of Caja de Ronda and in which he also served as an assistant for several cycles.
The teams from the Unicaja youth academy, also present, will compete from now on in the pavilion that bears the name of José María Martín Urbano. At the conclusion of the event, the last team that the man from Malaga trained on those slopes, Unicaja +60, faced the veterans of Rincón Basket in a friendly match.
Unicaja +35, current FIMBA European champion in its category, and Basket 4 Life put the final touch on a very special afternoon for the Unicaja family.
