Another great performance from Jorge Martin in MotoGP. Third to start the British GP.
-Better than I expected in this circuit?
-More than I expected, especially on Friday. The expectations are clearly high, even if it is rookie, because where we come from and the way I find myself with the bike I want to do well, but I think more about Sunday, not Friday. I felt very comfortable from the beginning and as soon as I put on a new wheel I was able to do this lap. I am comfortable, I feel very well, very comfortable and I hope to continue with this line all weekend.
-How much help does that moment in which you are now so that things turn out well from a Friday on a new circuit with MotoGP?
-It’s a bit of everything. The sensations are very good on the bike. It’s something that comes from Germany, not from now, on every track I get to, I’m always in the top 10 in practice and I think it’s a positive thing. But now that I feel good physically I can give that extra. We are also getting to know each other more with the team, we understand each other better when making changes and I think this is helping us a lot.
-Explain the tweet you put after the Austrian race fighting with Marc in the race and assuring that it was a dream to be there.
-It’s a bit of everything. Being in MotoGP is a dream and sometimes I still don’t believe it. It is clear that fighting with Marc hand in hand was the first time that had happened to me and we spent three laps passing each other. The truth is that for me it was beautiful and I am proud to have come this far. Being able to fight one of the greatest in the sport puts butterflies in your stomach and that was a bit of that.
– Do we have to count on you again for pole?
-I do not know. We will have to wait for tomorrow. I think there is a lot of margin, but taking T2 off I am very strong. We have to wait for tomorrow. It is clear that I am very competitive on one lap and today I am third, but it is not something that obsess me. I am trying to work on the rhythm, for me it is very important to do well on Sunday. This year it is difficult to get the M4 or the car they give, so I look forward to next year. (Serie).
-He gets to a circuit and adapts quickly. Did you make the base of the bike or was it more or less made for you?
-We work on the base in the preseason in Qatar. From the bike they gave me to the one I later took in Qatar, I changed little, but the basis was different. But it is clear that from there the bike has been almost always the same. Yes there have been circuits where we have had to make more changes, but the bike right now is identical to Austria and it is working very well. We always touch details that have to be adjusted, but it is more the team that sets it up when we get to that circuit than touching the base.
-There are pilots who touch the set-up more and others who do not touch anything. Are you one of those who don’t touch the bike a lot?
-I’m a rider who doesn’t touch the bike much. What’s more, within the parameters of MotoGP, the setting is very similar to what I wore in Moto3, I continue to maintain that style. Luckily, I didn’t have to change my style a lot to ride this bike, so I’m feeling comfortable when I hit a new track.
